The owner story

A corner shop built on second chances.

Maya opened Morning Grind in 2014 after a decade of bouncing between farms in Oaxaca, roasteries in Portland, and a tiny cart outside her mother's bookstore. What started as a single espresso machine on a folding table is now the neighborhood's unofficial living room.

Every bean we pull is traced to a farm we've visited. Every pastry is made by bakers we pay a living wage. And every chair, mug, and record in the shop was picked up second-hand — because the best things deserve another morning.
